Digby Jones - misleading

Aston Villa fan Digby Jones has been on the Andrew Marr show this morning. He opposed the moves by the French to introduce a pan-European regulator for football.

His reasoning?

That Aston Villa had just broken into the top 4 and in doing so, demonstrated the healthy competition in English football.

Pardon Digby?

Who owns Aston Villa? A rich American.

BBC: tasteless

No, I'm not talking about Brand and Ross (yawn) but this video on the BBC News homepage. It shows the US Attorney General collapsing whilst making a speech.

The man presumably has family and whilst better, we don't know whether he will fully recover.

It seems completely tasteless of the BBC to cover it as it adds NOTHING to the story. Anyone know how I can complain?

Birmingham Mail problems

I noticed from the BacAtU blog that the Birmingham Mail has been having a few problems tee hee.

It still won't make me pay for the newspaper when I could just get Metro free on the train.

Newspaper parochialism

Local newspapers are often mocked for their parochialism. Take, for example, the Have I Got News For You 'missing word' round where they take absurd headlines from specialist journals. There's also an old, (apocryphal?) story of a headline in a Scottish newspaper on the sinking of the Titanic 'Dundee man dies in shipping incident'.

However, this example beats them all. www.thebody.com welcomes the election of Barack Obama with the headline
